Meanwhile, in yet another universe, far into the dark depths of the Delta Quadrant...
Borg: A spacial rupture has been detected on the edge of Borg Space. Send two vessels to investigate. Heavy chronoton readings detected. Shields adapting to compensate. No vessel will enter the rift, uncertain of dangers to Collective. Study, gather.
Rift fluctuating. Vessel detected on the other side, attempting to enter current spacial location.

Dalek: "IDENTIFY YOURSELF."

My money's on the pepperpots. They've got sheer bloody-mindedness on their side... and the best one-liner.;)

True, they do. Normally I vote ST first, but the Daleks are a collective consciousness that shoots first and ask questions never. They would ambush the Borq without second thought. The Borg, well we all know they only react when something is a threat. In that light, the Daleks could take out several Borg vessels (if timed perfectly) before the Borg could even react.

HOWEVER, the we've never really matched the power play of either race against each other, and the Borg have been steadily assimilating for thousands of years. The daleks, some of their designs hae changed but once they achieved the "ultimate death ray" they never really got new toys. So I would say, ship to ship the Borg may stand a good chance once they pick themselves up, but on ground the Daleks have the obvious win.

Plus with the daleks one-energy type the Borg would adapt their shields to resist the dalek death ray.

Fair point, that, about the Dalek energy weapons. The Daleks, though, have shown themselves to be pretty inventive when it comes to killing off other races. The Reality Bomb, using an orrery made up of stolen moons and planets, for example.

While the Borg Collective - through its Queen - is rambling on about 'adding perfection' to itself, the Daleks are busy cooking up some unspeakable biogenic weaponry... I imagine that should the Daleks run into a foe that can screen out their death-rays, they would kick into overdrive on the Insane Science Projects...

Oh for sure. The Daleks can and will play their trump card early if they feel it necessary, and even with Davros' crazy ranting they still manage to keep their plans hidden. The Borg, easy read.

We could debate endlessly who would really win, but all in all it would be a spectacular fight to witness.

I'll be happy to sit back and watch. Just let me get a supply of beer and junk food first!

Now that would definitely be an interesting encounter! Daleks and Borg meeting? Which will prevail over the other? They are similar in many ways; though one is about keeping the race pure, while the other is about assimilating all races and technologies into their own. Which ideology will have the advantage? :O

See that's the fun part: Borg are striving to achieve perfection, but Daleks already believe they ARE perfection. The Borg would want to assimilate the Daleks to add to their Collective.
We can't really say the Daleks won't ally any more, thanks to Moffat. First the Daleks would never ally with anyone in Doomsday, then they form an alliance in The Pandorica Opens (stupidest fucking idea I've ever heard). So who knows, the Daleks might consider a partnership with the Borg, but do the same thing they always do and keep an eye on the Borg.

Does make me appreciate Assimilation2 though. The Borg and the Cybermen are very much alike, and in the end they betray one another. it reminds you how terrifying the Cybermen ncan really be. The ACTUAL Mondasian Cybermen, not those pussy-ass Cybus Cybermen from Pete's World.
